Start a Web browser on your Linux client and go to the following URL:<br /><br />http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_06/index.html<br /><br />2. Select the DOWNLOAD link in the JRE column for the Download J2SE v 1.4.2_06 option for<br />Windows/Linux/Solaris to display the Download page.<br /><br />3. Select the Accept License Agreement radio button.<br /><br />4. Select the appropriate Solaris or Linux link to display the Opening <jvm> dialog.<br /><br />5. Select the Save it to disk radio button and click OK.<br /><br />6. Navigate to a temporary directory on the client browser machine (e.g. tmp\) then click Save.<br /><br />7. Using a file manager tool, navigate to the temporary directory that you selected and execute the<br />downloaded file to start the JVM installation wizard and display the License Agreement page.<br /><br />8. Follow the instructions in the JVM installation wizard to install the JVM on the client machine.<br /><br />9. Follow manual installation instructions for JRE 1.4.2_06 and create a symbolic link to the 1.4.2_06 plugin.<br /><br />For example, assuming directory /usr/java/j21.4.2_06 is where the JDK is installed:<br /><br /><br /> cd /usr/lib/mozilla-1.7.12/plugins<br /> ln -s /usr/java/j2re1.4.2_06/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so<br /><br /><br />10.
